When World War II ended, September 2, 1945, Island Park fire fighters took shifts and rang the city's bell the entire night. This is the bell which stood atop the hill immediately behind Island Park Village Hall, the same bell which was the town’s emergency alert siren of the time.
The ‘Island Park Roll of Honor’ is the list of Island Park residents who fought in WW II. It was officially dedicated December 3, 1945. For decades, it was proudly displayed on the east wall of Island Park Village Hall. |
